This piece was inspired by a trip the artist made to a remote village in the Mexican state of Nayarit, to visit and witness the indiginous Cora people and their traditional festivities during the Holy Week of Easter. “El Elejido,” The Chosen One, leads a procession through the streets, carrying the cross that signifies his modern religion Catholisism, meeting face to face with the ancient traditions of his forefathers.
